Formal health education occurs in the classroom, is guided by a well-designed lesson plan, and is aligned with the National Health Education Standards. Health education is part of a coordinated school health program, and the school nurse plays an essential role in teaching students health knowledge and skills that will allow them to lead a healthy lifestyle.
