AMSSM Releases US$400,000 Request for Research Proposals and Identifies Release Dates for Other Grant Opportunities
The AMSSM Collaborative Research Network (CRN) recently released a US$400,000 Request for Proposals (RFP) for research studies that address clinical questions related to the practice of sports medicine and the care of patients. Letters of Intent are due July 13, 2026, and at least one PI must be a member of AMSSM.
An RFP for the AMSSM CRN Clinician-Scientist Development Award was also published with a full application due date of June 22, 2026. This award is geared towards AMSSM members with promising research potential and a desire to incorporate research into their clinical careers. Award winners will receive dedicated support from the AMSSM CRN to help expand their research skillset in the topic area of their choice.
The AMSSM intends to release research RFPs for a New Investigator Research Award, Foundation Research Award, and Secondary Analysis of Existing Data Research Award in May 2026. Educational Resources Freely Available on AMSSM’s YouTube Channel
AMSSM’s YouTube channel features 2 recurring educational video series that continue to provide freely available content for anyone interested - the National Fellow Online Lecture Series and the Sports Ultrasound Case Presentation Series.
The Fellow Online Lecture Series provides educational lectures and panel discussions with experienced AMSSM members, and at times invited guest experts, and also assists in CAQ Exam preparation. Meanwhile, the Sports Ultrasound Case Presentation Series takes place every other week with a presentation for a given body part or presenting complaint. Both of these series are nearly the end of their fifth year, and separate playlists are available for each one.

American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy (AASPT)
The AASPT Annual Meeting will take place July 10 and 11, 2026 in Seattle, presented in partnership with the AOSSM Annual Meeting. NATA, BOC Offer New Microcredential
NATA and the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer have partnered on a new microcredential: the Secondary School Mental Health Preparedness microcredential. This self-paced program equips athletic trainers in the secondary school setting with essential knowledge and practical strategies to recognize, respond to and plan for mental health challenges among student athletes.
