2023 AMSSM Research Summit on Justice, Equity, and Inclusion
Mark your calendars for the 2023 AMSSM CRN Research Summit, which will be held on April 28, 2023, before the Annual Meeting.
Cheri Blauwet, MD, Jeffrey Tanji, MD, FAMSSM, and Yetsa Tuakli-Wosornu, MD, MPH, are serving as the co-chairs for the Research Summit, and the goals of the conference are to:
Identify current knowledge gaps regarding the impact of health disparities in sport and exercise medicine (SEM) and establish appropriate priorities for targeted research in this space.
Identify important methodological considerations and approaches for SEM researchers when conducting health disparity research or implementing health disparity metrics into SEM research more broadly.

$10K Underrepresented Minority Research Grant Opportunity
The AMSSM Foundation is pleased to announce the release of the Minority Research Grant Award Request for Proposals (RFP).
The purpose of the AMSSM Minority Research Grant is to provide research opportunities specifically for historically underrepresented minorities in biomedical research to advance representation across diverse backgrounds and promote health equity in sports medicine research. These grant awards are designed to provide support for promising, innovative research projects, and the total amount of available funding is $10,000.
A completed grant application must be submitted through the AMSSM Grant Portal by February 17, 2023. Visit www.amssm.org/research.php for more details and to apply.

Committee Leadership: Call for Volunteers now Open
Volunteer committees form the lifeblood of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM). The Society is accepting applications through February 15, 2023, for members to serve 4-year terms in a wide range of operational areas, from education to bylaws to social media engagement.

Recognize Your Heroes: Hall of Fame Nominations
The Hall of Fame Committee currently is accepting nominations of outstanding leaders in the field of sports medicine to be considered for induction into the Society’s Hall of Fame this July during the AOSSM Annual Meeting. Nominees are scored in the areas of “Research,” “Education,” “Community Service,” and, provided the applicant is an AOSSM member, “Enduring Contributions to the Field of Sports Medicine and Service to AOSSM.”
Induction into the Hall of Fame is among AOSSM’s highest honors. Consider nominating your mentors or other key figures who have made significant contributions to the sports medicine specialty by filling out the online nomination form at sportsmed.org/membership/hall-of-fame by February 3, 2023.

Use the Professional Development Center This Reporting Year and Beyond
2023 is a reporting year, and it’s never too early to start earning your required continuing education units (CEUs). The NATA Professional Development Center (PDC) offers courses that cover a range of topics athletic trainers encounter daily. This includes everything from mental health to telemedicine. PDC visitors can filter courses by level, domain, and course format. In addition, NATA members receive free CEU credits that they can use in the PDC through December 31.
