AASPT President Jenkins Elected to IFSPT Board
The AASPT is proud to announce that Walter L. Jenkins, PT, DHS, L-ATC, AASPT president, has been elected to a 4-year term as treasurer of the International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy (IFSPT).
Dr Jenkins was nominated by the AASPT Executive Committee and approved at the IFSPT General Meeting as part of the Third World Congress of Sports Physical Therapy, held October 4-5 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He is serving his second term as AASPT president, after filling many leadership roles in the Academy since he joined in 1983. He is a professor and chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at Georgia Southern University.
The AASPT is the largest member organization of the IFSPT, which has 33 member organizations and over 22,000 individual members.
AASPT also thanks Gordon Eiland, who served as treasurer for the IFSPT prior to Jenkins. He completed two 4-year terms at the general meeting.

2020 AMSSM Annual Meeting: A World of Collaboration in Sports Medicine
The 2020 Program Planning Committee invites you to the 29th AMSSM Annual Meeting in beautiful Atlanta, GA, from April 24 to 29, 2020, with registration opening in mid-January 2020. This year marks the 29th anniversary of our organization, and we have put together an exciting and thought-provoking program with the theme of “A World of Collaboration in Sports Medicine.”
This theme will highlight an overriding concept of sports medicine: collaboration among team members from all backgrounds and practices nationally and internationally. The meeting features a long list of national and expanded international speakers who are excited to present at the conference.

A new International Research Session will also make its debut at the 2020 AMSSM Annual Meeting. AMSSM will provide a $500 award for the Best International Research Presentation. The top international research abstracts will be presented during our podium research session, and all other accepted abstracts will be presented the first night of the meeting at the welcome reception during an International Research Poster Session.

21st Annual AAOS/AOSSM/AANA Sports Medicine Course

Registration is now open for the popular Sport Medicine Course presented by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), AOSSM, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). The course will mark its 21st anniversary in Park City, Utah.

National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA)
Housing Is Now Open for NATA 2020
You can start making arrangements to attend the 71st NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo, to be held June 17 to 20 in Atlanta. Housing for NATA 2020 opened in December 2019. The NATA convention is the largest gathering of athletic trainers (ATs) in the world. Every year thousands of ATs attend the NATA convention to learn, celebrate, and connect with other ATs as well as see the newest sports medicine products and services. While the convention offers professional development on a variety of topics, 4 themes have been selected for NATA 2020: training load, biometrics/analytics, motor learning/motor behavior, and heat. Get Ready for National Athletic Training Month
Now is a great time to get ready for National Athletic Training Month (NATM)! Held each March, NATM showcases the athletic training profession to help spread awareness about the important work athletic trainers do. NATA Launches Health Care in Action Campaign
After the success of NATA’s 2019 Own Your Impact campaign, the association will continue the conversation in 2020 with the Health Care in Action campaign. Through this yearlong campaign, NATA will provide resources to members that help them tell their stories as health care providers and advocates.
