Medcasts provide an outlet for AMSSM members to present clinically relevant sports medicine topics in a concise and entertaining format. The goal is to produce 4 to 6 podcasts before the 2014 AMSSM annual meeting and then continue with 1 podcast every 4 to 6 weeks thereafter. In this first episode, Drs Scott Young and Cole Taylor discuss the practical considerations of heat injury evaluation and management with AMSSM Past President Dr Fran O’Connor. Sports Section Member Wins APTA Emerging Leader Award
Sports Physical Therapy Section member Jason B. Lunden, PT, DPT, SCS, has been selected by the American Physical Therapy Association’s Board of Directors for the Emerging Leader Award. The Emerging Leader Award annually honors individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary service to the profession and APTA early in their careers. Here’s an excerpt from Jason’s SPTS recommendation letter:
Jason has had several publications in physical therapy literature prior to his DPT education. He has made a number of professional presentations in Minnesota and Montana over a wide variety of sports-related topics. In addition, he has served as a clinical instructor for DPT students, developed several professional development courses, and supervised and mentored both PT residents and primary care residents at the University of Minnesota. In letters of nomination for the SPTS recognition, he was recognized for his clinical expertise, his ability to communicate formally and informally, and to promote the profession of physical therapy. With this prolific start, everyone expects more good things to come for Jason. His visibility in the community and his expertise with sports-related activities and injuries provides him the perfect opportunity to share the message of “MoveForward” in his community and beyond.
Congratulations, Jason, for your outstanding accomplishment and service to the APTA and your Section!
