Sage was contacted by a reader who raised concerns regarding the authorship contributions of this article.
The reader stated that they contributed significantly to the work reported and drafting of the article. They also noted that several of the co-authors on the byline do not meet criteria for authorship.
During an internal investigation, Sage also became aware of concerns with the funding statement of the article noting discrepancies between the published article’s funding statement and the previous submissions of the article. The authors were contacted for comment and asked to provide evidence supporting the authorship contribution of all authors and the declared funding.
The authors were unable to provide any information beyond what is reported in the article.
Due to concerns around author contributions to this article, as well as concerns around the integrity of the research process, Sage and the Journal Editor retract this article.
