Abstract

Natural Product Communications is continuing with its policy to publish a number of special collections, and here I am pleased to introduce another themed collection, related to “Marine Natural Products: Structure, Biosynthesis, Biological Activities, Synthetic Derivatives and Analogs,” which is organized by Professors Vladimir I. Kalinin
Professor Valentin A. Stonik has been an editorial advisory member since the time of inception of Natural Product Communications. He has published many original manuscripts and review articles as well as organized a themed collection: “Russian Studies on Natural Products” Natural Product Communications, 3 (10) 1565-1746 (2008).
Professor Kalinin has been an editor of Natural Product Communications for several years. He has published more than 25 articles in NPC. He won the Gerald Blunden award for 2020 for his original article “Psolusosides C3 and D2-D5, Five Novel Triterpene Hexaosides from the Sea Cucumber Psolus fabricii (Psolidae, Dendrochirotida): Chemical Structures and Bioactivities,” by Alexandra S. Silchenko, Sergey A. Avilov, Anatoly I. Kalinovsky, Vladimir I. Kalinin, Pelageya V. Andrijaschenko, Pavel S. Dmitrenok, Roman S. Popov, Ekaterina A. Chingizova, and Marat F. Kasakin. Natural Product Communications, DOI: 10.1177/1934578X19861253. He was able to attract leading scientists, and their contributions highlight some significant aspects related to marine natural products.
The editors join me in thanking the authors, the reviewers, and particularly Prof. Kalinin, for their support that have made this collection possible, and looking forward to their continued cooperation.
