Incubation of cultured cells of Strophantus gratus with trans-resveratrol gave its 4′-O-β-D-glucoside as the major product in addition to its 3-O-β-D-glucoside under white and red light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Use of blue LEDs as light sources for biotransformation of trans-resveratrol much improved the yield of its β-Dglycosides and changed the composition of products, that is, 3-O-β-Dglucoside was the major product and 4′-O-β-D-glucoside was the minor one.
