A new C-glucosyl-α-hydroxydihydrochalcone derivative, (αS)-3′-C-β-glucopyranosyl-α,3,4,2′4′-pentahydroxydihydrochalcone, named as bijayasaline (1) was isolated from the heartwood of Bijayasal (Pterocarpus marsupium) and characterized on the basis of NMR and circular dichroism (CD) spectral data. Bijayasaline (1) showed potent DPPH free radical scavenging activity.
