Abstract
This article depicts a secondary gifted program in Beijing, the People's Republic of China, based on my recent visit to it. The program has been in operation for almost nine years. Students in the program complete the regular eight years of elementary and secondary education (grades 5 to 12) in four years. At the age of 14, they are admitted into universities for undergraduate studies. This article covered the factors contributing to the uniqueness of the program, which comprises multiple-criteria screening and selection of candidates, a comprehensively designed curriculum, whole class instruction, and diverse learning opportunities. The issues affecting the development of the program were also explored.
