Abstract

Dear Reader,
Changes are afoot for the Journal of Current Chinese Affairs in 2016. After serving ten years at the helm as our editor-in-chief, Karsten Giese is relinquishing his post in order to dedicate himself more fully to his wide-ranging research activities at the GIGA. Through his great effort and dedication, Dr. Giese has transformed the Journal of Current Chinese Affairs into a peer-reviewed journal with a global reach and was instrumental to the journal gaining a strong reputation and increased visibility. For this, the GIGA's Executive Board is extraordinarily grateful to Karsten Giese and applauds his achievements.
The position of editor-in-chief of the JCCA has already been advertised and we hope to welcome an energetic new leader in April 2016. The incoming editor-in-chief will be actively supported, as was Dr. Giese, by our seasoned managing editor, Petra Brandt. In the meantime, our colleague Günter Schucher, senior research fellow at the GIGA and the previous editor-in-chief of ASIEN: The German Journal on Contemporary Asia, will serve as acting editor-in-chief of the JCCA, for which we are very thankful. All 2016 issues of the JCCA have already been planned and organised.
The GIGA's Executive Board has decided to take the opportunity presented by the personnel changes to align the JCCA's publication frequency with that of the three other journals in the GIGA journal family (www.giga-journal-family.org), Africa Spectrum, the Journal of Current Southeast Asian Affairs, and the Journal of Politics in Latin America. As of 2016, the Journal of Current Chinese Affairs will be published in its usual high quality in three instead of four issues annually.
We very much appreciate your understanding and are grateful for your continuing support.
With warm regards on behalf of myself and the other members of the GIGA's Executive Board,
