Abstract
This article explores ‘disposition as a concept for developing an early childhood pedagogy of equity, and suggests why it is problematic. Two readings of an episode of children's play called Workers in the construction site bring to life competing possibilities of how equity operates for children. The writer suggests the contradictions which emerge from traditional and critical readings open spaces in which it may be possible to begin to reconceptualise an early childhood pedagogy of equity.
