Abstract
A survey was carried out of all graduates of NSW and Victorian Schools of medical record administration prior to 1985. Manpower statistics were collected on three groups: Those respondents employed in positions in which their medical record skills were used, those not using medical record skills in their employment, and those not employed. Information collected included age, retention rates for each graduating year, area of employment and position, State in which employed, reasons for leaving the medical record field, and intention to return to the field. Figures collected also allowed MRA to population and MRA to public hospital bed ratios to be calculated.
