Abstract
The aim of the present study was to describe professional activities and analyse occupational therapists’ (OTs) and physiotherapists’ (PTs) practice. Members of the Swedish Society for Hand Rehabilitation participated (84 OTs and 26 PTs). A self-report questionnaire was used. It included questions of a demographic nature and questions concerning methods for assessment and intervention. The response rate was 85%. Professional activities specific to OTs and/or PTs were identified as well as core activities evaluated as very important. A large proportion of respondents supported a formal certification process, emphasising specific professional development, as well as joint specialised education organised at master's level where OTs and PTs shared professional knowledge. The data from this occupational analysis has served as a basis for educational objectives for PTs and OTs working in the field of hand rehabilitation.
