Intrinsic and Extrinsic Tightness - The Importance of the ‘Pre-Splint’ Test to Determine MCP Inclusion and Position in Orthotics

Abstract

Proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint mobilisation splints are often requested in the management of restricted PIP joint mobility. Two tests, which are quick and easy to carry out can provide the therapist with the necessary information to ensure that the correct splint is made.
