Controlling the spread of HIV and its consequences by measures based on HIV surveillance

Abstract

HIV presents a serious infection control challenge, globally and nationally. This article examines how surveillance of the virus is carried out in the UK and how the data from that surveillance can be used to help reduce the spread of the virus, principally through health education.
