Abstract
Tuberculosis continues to be a significant public health concern in the UK, particularly in urban areas with a high population density and among at-risk groups such as migrants, immunocompromised individuals and those with social risk factors. For GPs, early recognition is crucial as tuberculosis can present with non-specific symptoms, leading to delayed diagnosis. Effective management requires a combination of clinical suspicion, timely investigation and coordination of care with public health and specialist services to ensure successful treatment and prevent transmission.
