Abstract
The quality improvement project (QIP) is an essential part of a GP’s training. The General Medical Council (GMC) recommend an element of quality improvement on an annual basis. The RCGP suggest this is captured in either a QIP in ST1 or ST2 or then in the other years as a QIA. Registrars will often be in a unique position as the QIP can be used to both improve patient safety and allow flexibility to support future career aims. Care needs to be taken to align the execution and subsequent write up with the RCGP website, which we will reference during this article. In this article, we will address the QIP process and compare this with the author’s own QIP, submitted just prior to becoming a GP trainer.
