Abstract
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorders diagnosed in women of reproductive age across the globe. The condition may have reproductive, metabolic and psychological sequalae. Insulin resistance contributes to the metabolic disturbances seen in PCOS. Historically clinicians have faced diagnostic challenges when managing patients with PCOS and this has resulted in delayed diagnoses and patient dissatisfaction. This article aims to summarise diagnosis, investigation and management of PCOS in primary care.
