Limping in children is not an uncommon presentation in general practice. Although trauma is a major cause, and the aetiology usually obvious, the presentation of a child with atraumatic limp can cause significant concern in parents and carers. This paper will discuss atraumatic limp, concentrating on diagnoses which are common, serious or both.
