Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy is used for diagnosis, surveillance, and management of a range of gastroenterological conditions. A common indication for endoscopy is dyspepsia. This article summarises the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines on when to refer patients with dyspepsia for endoscopy, focusing on non-urgent presentations where patients do not have alarm symptoms.
