It has a statutory duty to monitor and inspect providers of health services including General Practices. Since 1 October 2014, the CQC has rolled out its new approach to inspecting GP services. The aim of this article is to outline the CQC’s role in regulation and the rationale for and mechanism by which it carries out its regulatory activities.
