Throughout GP training and within the early years of practice the focus is on learning to become a competent GP. It can often be a challenge to find the time and resources to teach during this part your medical career, particularly if you feel you lack expert knowledge on a topic. However, there are many advantages to teaching at this stage. The process of teaching aids learning and for many is an extremely enjoyable and rewarding experience. This article aims to look at opportunities for First5® GPs and GPs in training to get involved in teaching and provides some basic tools to help you to get started.
