Abstract
Many of you will have heard of Martin Bromiley and many will have met him over the years since he became a prominent figure within the environs of perioperative care. Martin came into our lives as a result of the tragic death of his wife Elaine Bromiley a 37 year old mother of two who was admitted for an elective endoscopic sinus surgery. Elaine suffered major complications during the induction of general anaesthesia that resulted in her death due to hypoxic brain damage.
