Young People: Their Insights into the Roles of Healthcare Professionals

Abstract

This article is the result of discussions with groups of young people about my job as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) and about general health-related issues. Study days had been arranged for these young people so they could be given an insight into various healthcare-based careers. As well as to inform, my role was also to listen to their views and opinions and to also broaden their understanding. There were a total of 10 study days arranged for the various age groups. The ages ranged from 12–18.
