This article arises from the involvement of two complete theatre teams in a project to develop quality teaching and assessment in technical and operative procedures in general surgery. It gives the personal accounts of three scrub nurses who through reflective practice explore their own contribution to the teaching of senior surgical house officers (SHOs) and junior doctors within their working environment.
