At the beginning of the new millennium the government published a document entitled The NHS Plan (DoH 2000) giving details of their plans to reform the NHS and improve the working lives of its staff. As a result of this plan many projects aimed at redefining the traditional structure of the NHS have been initiated, some of which require demolishing the time-honoured demarcations between professional groups.
