2-Aryl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4-quinolones are converted in high yields to the corresponding 2-aryl-4-methoxyquinolines using molecular iodine in refluxing methanol; the structures of the quinoline derivatives are determined using 1H and 13CNMR spectroscopic techniques.
