Staff Appraisal Schemes in Comprehensive Schools: A Regional Survey of Current Practice in the South Midlands and the South West of England

A survey in the South Midlands and South West of England shows that a majority of comprehensive schools are running or planning schemes of staff appraisal- but there are very different interpretations of what "appraisal" means and of what schemes aim to achieve.
