Abstract
The article describes first of all the aims and work of the Institute for Applied Studies in Educational Administration and Management at the North-Rhine -Westphalian Research Centre for Applied Studies in Educational Science (FEoLL) in Paderborn. The Institute works mainly on projects in applied educational research in the field of educational planning and organisation under the direction of the Education Minister of North-Rhine-Westphalia and the Federal Ministry of Education and Science. A representative sample of these projects will be described in detail to serve as examples. The inter-disciplinarily orientated research projects aim at concrete solutions to problems in the area of secondary education, in tertiary education and further education while considering not only the predominantly administrative-organisational aspects but also the socio-educational problems of the respective educational institutions together with the legal framework of educational policy and economy. Selected R & D results were documented and presented in such a way that they could be used for the initial and further training of head teachers and school administrators.
