Abstract
The effect of polypyrrole (PPy) and ionic liquid (IL) nanocoatings on the electrical properties of cellulose film has been investigated. Cellulose–PPy film was prepared by employ-ing the polymerization-induced adsorption process with controlled polymerization time. Nanocoating of IL was carried out by immersing cellulose–PPy film into an aqueous solution of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and secondary-ion mass spectrometry analysis showed the successful build-up of PPy and IL nanolayers over the cellulose film. The electrical properties of regenerated cellulose were enhanced several times by PPy and IL nanocoatings. The preparation, characterization, and electrical properties of cellulose–PPy–IL nanocomposite films are explained.
