The author had made a statement of primacy regarding the LMA being the first validated global lifestyle measurement tool in the piece and, at the time, believed this was true. They were later informed by a nurse about a previous Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II instrument that was created and validated in the late 1980s in the Nursing Research literature (https://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/handle/2027.42/85349). While it is 52 items, includes health responsibility, and does not inquire about substance use, author feels that a few of the statements are not correct. Below I have provided revisions to all the affected text within the article. The following updates are made in the article:
Abstract: • The first sentence of the abstract is updated from “There are no validated global lifestyle medicine brief screening tools that measure health behaviors in all six lifestyle domains” to “The 21-item LMA is a brief global lifestyle medicine tool that has demonstrated excellent content and face validity.”
Main Text: • Introduction, the second paragraph the first sentence is revised to: “Despite the tremendous interest and growth in the field, there are not universally recognized brief validated global lifestyle medicine specific screening tools that cover the six pillars of lifestyle medicine. The Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II instrument is a validated option of 52 items that cover physical activity, nutrition, spiritual growth, interpersonal relations, and stress management. It also includes health responsibility, though it does not address substance use. (Walker 1995)”
New citation is added to the revised paragraph: Walker SN, Sechrist KR, Pender NJ. The Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile: Development and Pyschometric Characteristics. Nursing Reserach. 1987;(36)2:76-81. • Conclusion, the final sentence is revised to say: “This initial validation work of the 21-item global LMA should lay the foundation for future lifestyle medicine assessment research.”
