Although monofilament plastic fabrics have been used in the nonwovens industry for more than 25 years, the general knowledge about such fabrics is relatively poor. This paper shall bring some light in this matter so that the user of plastic fabrics will get more understanding about them. Besides the comparison of glass and metal to plastics, some properties of chosen materials are also mentioned. Special subjects such as air permeability, cleaning, and shrinking are also discussed.
