Abstract
A Chitosan/sucrose/polyurethane composite bio-membrane was prepared by the facile drop coating method. The composite bio-membrane had a porous spongy structure composed of a physical mixing of each component. The water absorbability of the composite bio-membrane increased with increasing chitosan and sucrose contents. Furthermore, the composite bio-membrane with immobilized Aspergillus sojae exhibited excellent degradation ability in treating wool scouring wastewater. After the treatment the chemical oxygen demand (COD) and suspended solids (SS) of the wastewater could be decreased to 198mg/L from 12000mg/L and to 125mg/L from 1935mg/L, respectively. Moreover, it was shown that N and P contents in the fertilizer continuously increased with composting time.
