Abstract
The fictional case narrative examines the complex issue of legally carrying a handgun on university campuses. The case centers on a stalking incident, which escalates to a campus shooting. The narrative explores the complex interplay between an individual’s legal right to bear arms and one’s right to safety and freedom from fear while obtaining an education. The case narrative and activities encourage students to examine the facts through the conceptual and empirical work on sensemaking and intersectionality. The university leadership perspective provides students with opportunities to discuss policies and navigate a crisis as stakeholders.
