Abstract
Emily Johnson, a new high school assistant principal, ponders how to handle an unexpected dilemma over the faculty award nomination procedures. As chair of the faculty awards committee, she has to decide how to handle the arrival of late nominations. They were submitted by a committee member Jack Fitch, who had been a candidate for the assistant principal position. It appears to Emily that Jack submitted the late nominations in order to show his disdain for her earlier decision to include a nomination of a popular teacher received by a committee member by the Friday deadline but not given to Emily until the following Monday. Emily is concerned about how her decision will affect staff morale as well as her own reputation for ethical behavior and her first evaluation as a new administrator.
