This case was developed for use in a course on the superintendency. It aims to help students recognize that there is more to dealing with a crisis than the immediate situation. A series of crises are presented wherein the actions taken in a situation are likely to affect one’s effectiveness in other situations. The situations center on contract enforcement, payroll mistakes, environmental disaster, and contract negotiations during a district’s financial crisis. Students must consider the impact of previous suggested actions on dealing with each new crisis.
