Abstract
A perennial problem in education that has resurfaced in the wake of the recent economic downturn is how to manage budget cuts resulting from revenue shortfalls. In this case, students are asked to consider the process and criteria for making hard choices in a school district. They should also consider how their personal experiences affect their decision-making. The case describes a meeting of school district officials who have been asked by the superintendent for advice on budget cuts. One major focus of the case is whether or not to continue a sizeable initiative in technology integration in the classroom.
