This case focuses on one principal’s dilemma created when a community church wishes to sponsor a Christian Youth group for a school assembly. It explores the legal and political forces associated with religious expression in public schools. The teaching notes are designed to stimulate student discussions of the fine line between “sponsorship” and “inhibition” of religious expression, politics and power, communication, and the relationship between fundraising and sponsorship.
