Abstract

I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as President of the Society for Vascular Ultrasound “the voice of vascular ultrasound.” Together with our Board of Directors, I am looking forward to building a membership-driven organization which means that we want to get to know you, we want you to get to know us, and we want your input, expertise, and energy in supporting our organization so that together we can make things happen to improve our profession.
We are blessed with many dedicated volunteers who care deeply about our profession, its standing, and contributions in a fast-changing environment. As you well know, vascular ultrasound is a dynamic field, and there are always new challenges ahead. The Board of Directors includes an amazing lineup of volunteers who have a servant mindset and plan on building upon the strategic plan that was created last year.
The board approved a strategic plan last year, and the leadership paved the way for incoming and existing members to take the next steps in furthering our mission. This year we will focus on putting our goals and objectives to our strategic plan in action. Vascular sonographers are in high demand across the nation and quality is too. We will work toward increasing access to high-level education for our sonographers, partner with facilities to increase knowledge of our specialty outwardly, advocate for our patients by setting standards for patient outcomes, and continue to revamp the SVU by ensuring adequate resources and recruiting new members so that we can be certain that our profession has a bright future.
I look forward to the challenge of meeting our goals and objectives. To be successful in making a difference in our profession, we must work together. I challenge you all to be the change our profession needs to make the difference our society desires to transform our occupation into the career we aspire to enjoy.
Josh Lee, MBA, RVT, FSVU
