Abstract

The following questions for SVU-CME credit are based on the article entitled “Arteriovenous Fistula Stenosis: Correlating Degree of Neointimal Hyperplasia With Reduction in Volume Flow Measured on Ultrasound and Ultrasound Characterization Based in Stenosis Morphology.”
Both true/false and multiple-choice questions are included. There is only one (1) correct answer for the multiple-choice test items. Answer all the questions listed below. One-half (1/2) CME credit will be awarded for successful completion of this test with a grade of 80% or more.
Volume flow in the brachial artery is the most reliable ultrasound parameter indicative of fistula function. True False
A volume flow of less than 800 ml/min is associated with an increased risk of arteriovenous fistula thrombosis. True False
According to the study, the types of stenosis based on ultrasound appearance include all of the following except: intimal hyperplasia medial hypoplasia shrinking valve
A leading cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with end stage kidney disease is vascular access dysfunction. True False
Common complications associated with vascular access sites include all of the following except: Failure to mature Stenosis formation Thrombosis Graft migration
According to the article, a clinically well-functioning arteriovenous fistula with a normal volume flow could also present with an asymptomatic stenosis. True False
Instructions: CME tests are offered only online at www.svu.org. SVU members can complete the tests and earn CME credit for free. Nonmembers will be charged $20 per one-half (1/2) CME test taken. All tests for SVU CME must be completed by February 28, 2027.
