Abstract
The goal of this project is to develop and understand how technology can be integrated with the teaching of an instructional design course in a secondary education program. A sociotechnical approach to systems design is appropriate for this project because educational systems can be modeled as more or less open systems which are impacted by environmental factors. In general, it is expected that the approach adopted here can also be used by other organizations including higher and secondary education institutions. Most design constraints are sociotechnical rather than simply technical. Work completed includes concept development, a technology needs analysis, a survey of existing collaborative tools, and initial prototype development.
