Abstract
The focus of this paper is on the specific and general job design and training issues that impact crew and individual performance in workload transition. The first part of the paper will address three general areas of job design: 1) the physical environment in which work is performed, 2) the workplace or workstation at which users perform tasks and 3) the displays and controls required for task performance. The second part of the paper will address findings related to how training can increase the probability of adequate performance.
