Abstract
New adaptations of “virtual-world” and “networking” technologies in the Department of Defense provide effective alternatives to traditional methods of military training. These technologies have broad applicability to education and training in non-military settings as well. Four panelists describe and discuss some of the recent successful demonstrations of “teleteaching,” simulator networking, mechanisms for interoperability networking, and the promise of networks for training and other applications. The session includes a discussion among the panelists as well as interaction between the panel and the audience.
