Abstract
In April 1989 a concerted effort was undertaken by the Human Factors Engineers of the IBM Federal Systems Division in Boulder, Colorado to research and design the workstation area of a mobile ground shelter. This mobile ground shelter is designed to ride and function on the trailer of a standard semi-truck. The intent was to devise a functional, human-centered design that met the specifications of tasks being performed. A series of four mockups were constructed as a way of iteratively evolving the design. This project is a good example of applied human factor principles though the evaluation of user input.
