Abstract
A study of visual tracking was conducted to determine the influence of tracking direction and task type on the pattern of eye movements. The 3×4-factorial experiment with repeated measures showed that smooth eye movements were: (1) longer in the horizontal than vertical plane; (2) longer in the downward than upward direction; (3) influenced by the type of task. The results may be relevant for employee training and design of workstations in respect to electronic information display and hand coordination, visual inspection, and work under the microscope.
