The objective of this study was to determine baseline target detection performance as a function of bichromatic versus monochromatic color coding and field symbol density. Three dependent variables (errors, reaction times, and target count) were chosen to evaluate performance. The results suggest that as more information is displayed on a screen, the potential for a color code is increased.
