The objective of this paper is to describe the IDEF-0 (Integrated Computer Aided Manufacturing (ICAM) Definition Part 0) language and to show how it can be utilized as an effective planning and problem solving tool. The relationship between specific requirements of the system planning process, as reflected in current models of systems planning, and features of the IDEF-0 language are examined.
