Abstract
What is legal and not in violation of any building code or ordinance is not sufficient to guarantee safety of the humans involved in many cases of public use. The objects and places that people encounter and use in everyday life (e.g., stairways, elevators, and shopping carts) need to be consistently designed and manufactured. Consistency in this vein will allow for a positive transfer of training and thereby allow for the human filtering function to process the stimuli received from the objects and places. An annotated discussion of several examples is provided.
