The following paper addresses the human factors considerations which affect the hardware, software, and human interface in a computer aided design (CAD) system. A table is produced which shows the allocation of taks and responsibilities for the human and computer in a CAD system. Future research directions for human involvement in a CAD system are discussed while an expert system for design tasks is proposed.
